Looking good for apartment in Corvallis

*cross fingers* when they receive my app. and deposit in Corvallis this week, I am hoping that I will get the unit I applied for-- it's about 3-4 miles from campus, with a carport, laundry in unit, water/sewer/gas paid, and 1 bedroom + living room. And all for only $515.00. Sure, I'll probably have about 200$ on top of that for inet and natural gas/electric, but it would be nice to have this place. It's near the hospital so I'm hoping that the community is for the most part people interning, etc. Probably I should look for parking or something on campus, eh? <-- kind of wish I could get a motorcycle because that would be much more cheap than a car-- ah well, it's Oregon-- that's probably not at all feasible in the winter with the rains anyway!

  1. I comment on my own post also to mention that in the US News Magazine Today is the 2011 Best Graduate Schools guides- of course, forestry is never mentioned, but interestingly the two schools Chubbins is looking at - UNCC and Queens, are right next to each other. They seem very comprable-- both have the same average GMAT/ TOEFL scores, similar (600-800 $ per hour) class prices, etc. The only difference I noticed was that Queens was more % males, whereas UNCC was much more evenly split. Of course, this was limited to the business graduate college-- however, it appeared that Q doesn't have full time undergrad school? -- well, in any case, not much I could discern amongst the two. A friend of mine at CU went to UNCC undergrad and was a big fan.

Oh, and on a strange note, of course, GA Tech is 4th in nation for engineering overall... but NC State was 20th. Wow. I definitely didn't know that school had a strong engineering program.

  2. You know, I feel pretty happy about my apartment, until I see what you and the Scrub are paying for far more awesome places...

  3. Well, it could be a huge dump, for all I know... and you do have a major advantage-- you can see the PACIFIC OCEAN FROM YOUR HOUSE AND YOU HAVE SAN BRUNO MOUNTAIN IN YOUR BACKYARD. I'd pay a 300/ mo premium for that for sure! Hell, I'd pay 500 for that!

  5. Yeah, it's 500$ good... and from SB, you can see it. And you can drive to that Pacifica and see it from there too... any time you want, you can watch a Pacific sunset. I ask myself, would I pay approx. 12.50 a day to watch a pacific sunset and smell the ocean from my house. Oh yes.
